There are many places around London where you can shop for amazing evening wear. Oxford Street, particularly, is heavy on great department stores. You will be able to find most high street retailers happily “based” on the infamous street. Almost anything goes in Oxford Street; from stores that will sell beautiful (and expensive!) designer clothes (a Marc by Marc Jacobs from Selfridges can set you back around £700 – easily) to low end garments. Some of the stores you will find within the long populated piece as asphalt are Next, Miss Selfridges, Zara, Mango, BHS, Marks & Spencers, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Wallace, Top Shop, New Look, Morgan and, yes, many more.
There are also collections from many fashionable designers at different department stores. Needless to say, Bond Street would be the one stop area to –if anything- just dream of wearing one of the many beautiful designer mother of the bride outfits UK – (in other words, formal evening wear) and also from abroad. At John Lewis mother of the bride outfits can be found in the women’s dresses section. John Lewis’ selection includes evening outfits by Phase Eight, Crea Concept, Planet Show, Chesca, Jaeger, Fenn Wright Manson, Gina Bacconi Damsel in a Dress, Ted Baker, Fench Connection, Kookai, Diesel, Emma Watson for People Tree, Planet, Oasis, Les Petites, Whistles and Celia Birtwell for John Lewis amongst others.
So, why would you want to shop for your mother of the bride outfit at John Lewis? Very easy answer: it is not as expensive as most people probably think. Don’t get me wrong, give me Condici, Ian Stuart, Frank Usher, Medici or a gorgeous Paule Vasseur any time, but if you prefer something a little “simpler” but with a heavy weight name behind it – and A LOT cheaper – John Lewis is the place for you.

You’d be surprised at the low prices you would be paying for your mother of the bride outfit. A Gina Bacconi (a favourite amongst many women!) will set you back for around less than £200. And, to be honest, most of the evening dresses range between £25 (yep, that’s £25) and £350. So, not bad uh? Obviously, some of the names are not as highly considered in the wedding “ring” as, lets say, an Ann Balon label, but still the fact that it was bought at John Lewis department store should bear some benefits in terms of impressing the socialite.
